A Tapestry of Raags and Rhythm

The evening commenced with the melancholic grandeur of Raag Kirwani. Bhatt unfolded the raag with a beautifully structured Alap, Jod, and Jhala, allowing the warm, resonant strains of the sitar to permeate the silence. His intricate finger work crisscrossed the frets, weaving a rich tapestry of sound that shifted effortlessly from serene introspection to powerful rhythmic vibrancy.

The narrative then transitioned to Raag Charukeshi, rendered with remarkable depth and finesse. Bhatt presented a mesmerizing bandish set to a rare 9-matra taal, followed by a spirited bandish in Drut Teen Taal. It was here when Manas Vora’s tabla entered the dialogue, blending seamlessly with the melodic flow of the sitar.

The resulting Jugalbandi was a display of electric chemistry—a rhythmic dialogue of energy, texture, and precision. The interplay generated waves of pure musical energy, oscillating between the contemplative and the exhilarating, transporting listeners to heightened states of ecstasy. The escalating tempos and complex rhythmic patterns reflected the artist's profound understanding of the Hindustani classical idiom.

A Homage to Legends

The recital concluded on a soulful note with a bandish in Raag Mishra Pahadi. In a moments of deep emotional resonance, Bhatt rendered the iconic composition “Udja Kale Kawan,” paying a heartfelt tribute to its creator, the legendary composer Shri Uttam Singh Jee, who was present in the audience. This moving homage stood out as one of the evening’s most memorable highlights.

World-renowned composer and Music Director Shri Uttam Singh Jee remarked, ‘Having witnessed numerous sitar performances, I was deeply impressed by Bhagirath Bhatt’s mastery over his instrument, and Manas was equally good on tabla. Bhagirath Jee’s playing was truly soulful and spellbinding. If and when given a chance, I certainly will have Bhagirath Jee play for me in the times ahead.’

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Rehman Naushad observed, ‘It was an honour to witness and be part of this exceptional recital. Bhagirath Bhatt Sahab has an immensely bright future ahead of him, much like that of Shr Ravi Shankar Jee. I wish him every success.

However, his mission takes a dangerous turn when intelligence reports reveal a major terrorist attack planned during the Bihu Festival, coinciding with the visit of the Defence Minister to Assam.

Writer–Director Mohsin Khan tackles the subject with empathy rather than preaching, allowing the film to breathe, entertain, and connect emotionally.

Set in a modest town in Maharashtra, the story follows Bhau (Prathamesh Parab) and Chochya (Prithvik Pratap)—two laid-back real-estate brokers whose carefree routines are disrupted when Dr. Amruta Deshmukh (Ankita Lande) arrives with a courageous dream: to launch a fertility centre in a community weighed down by stigma, fear, and traditional beliefs. Her progressive medical outlook challenges the town’s deep-rooted conservatism, triggering resistance, rumours, and moral panic—fueling a drama that remains deeply human at its core.

The film finds its emotional pulse in the lives of the village women, who carry silent battles between economic survival and social judgment. Khan portrays surrogacy not as a clinical transaction but as a journey of dignity, sacrifice, and hope. The narrative gains further momentum when MLA Sanjay Tatya Bhosale (Ganesh Yadav) quietly considers surrogacy for his own family, layering the plot with political pressure, personal conflict, secrecy, and vulnerability.

Performances

Prathamesh Parab leads the film with effortless humour and emotional authenticity, evolving beautifully as the story shifts gears. Ankita Lande delivers a remarkably grounded and mature performance as Dr. Amruta—strong, sensitive, and morally aware without ever feeling theatrical.

Writing & Direction

Khan smartly anchors the first half in light-hearted, slice-of-life storytelling, letting humour and local colour flow organically. The second half turns more intense, exploring ethical and emotional crossroads effectively. While the climax leans slightly more toward family drama than the central theme of surrogacy, it still lands—mainly because the emotions never lose sincerity, and the dramatic escalation remains engaging rather than forced.

Final Verdict

Mamta Child Factory may shift toward heightened drama at the end, but it never sacrifices emotional impact. It’s a rare film that blends social relevance, humour, politics, and family emotions into one cohesive viewing experience.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 24: On 21st November 2025, Naushad Academy of Hindustani Sangeet presented an evening that felt more like a gentle invocation of the timeless soul of Indian classical music than a concert. In a world increasingly shaped by technology, speed, and distraction, the Academy once again illuminated its purpose - quietly, steadfastly, and with an almost devotional sincerity by creating a space where purity of sound and depth of tradition could breathe.

The stage belonged to two acclaimed maestros: legendary flautist Pandit Rakesh Chaurasia and distinguished tabla virtuoso Anutosh Degharia. Their jugalbandi unfolded like a conversation between wind and earth - serene, responsive, and alive with artistic brilliance.

The evening commenced with the flute emerging softly, as though rising out of silence itself. Each note carried clarity and warmth, drawing listeners inward. The opening alap unfurled with the tenderness of dawn stretching across a quiet horizon. Subtle inflexions of breath and tone created an atmosphere where music felt less like performance and more like emotion taking form - reminiscent of raindrops meeting the earth - delicate, unhurried, yet profoundly moving.

When Anutosh Degharia’s tabla entered, it did so with grace and intentional restraint, offering rhythm not as support but as dialogue. At times it mirrored the flute’s flow, at times it questioned it, and at times it lifted it into new textures. Together, the duo demonstrated the pure essence of jugalbandi - two voices in conversation, co-creating, responding, and elevating one another.

The recital journeyed through three classical Raagas, each chosen to evoke its own emotional universe:

• Raag Madhuvanti opened the evening with a sense of peace, evoking the mellow tenderness of late afternoon light.

• Raag Desh followed, stirring warmth and nostalgia, its phrases reminiscent of monsoons, homeland, and centuries of living tradition.

• The programme concluded with Raag Bhairavi, a meditative finale that offered closure - not through silence, but through serenity.

Legendary Music Composer Shri Uttam Singh shared a warm tribute to Rakesh Chaurasia, noting how his tone, artistry, and musical brilliance carry forward the grace of his uncle, the legendary Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. Playing Tasneem wasn’t just about acting—it demanded a complete physical and mental transformation. “Tasneem is a stuntwoman, so my body had to look like that,” Aditi explains. “I’ve always been into fitness but I started strength training intently to build muscle. I also adjusted my diet to gain strength without losing too much weight” 

When she first met the directors, Karan Anshuman and Suparn Verma, the vision for the character was immediately clear. “We discussed changes to my look for this character, since Tasneem is a small-town, rough, raw girl who works in a stunt studio full of men. The attire would be tank tops and loose trousers—not the usual girlie clothes. The character would be sporty and fit” 

Even her speech and demeanour were reworked. “They told me how to slow down my speech, be dominating and own my space — like a cat. Watch how a cat moves, its awareness, and how it takes its own space. That stayed with me” 

Aditi’s first shoot day was meant to be a small entry scene—but the anticipation was overwhelming. “I had just two lines, but I was nervous — the whole cast was there, and I wanted to prove I belonged. I sat in my vanity for 12 hours rehearsing the same two lines in the mirror repeatedly with focus. But that day, the scene didn’t happen due to delays. By the time I shot it the next day, all the nerves had calmed down — and I could deliver with confidence”

One of the biggest moments for Aditi was a confrontation scene with the show’s lead, Rana Daggubati. “Very early on, I had the big scene with Rana — in Episode 7 — where Tasneem questions him for being controlling. I was super nervous because… It’s Mr. Rana Daggubati. But Karan sir patiently rehearsed the scene with me. When we did the final take, I was calm and confident. Later, I got good feedback from Rana and Suparn sir. That appreciation made me happy. That same day, legendary filmmaker Rajamouli was on set. “I didn’t get to meet him, but I remember being on set manifesting — one day, I want to work with him” 

For Aditi, the stunt work was entirely new territory. “I had never done stunts before, but for my introduction scene, I had to do a backflip on a harness. I trained with Geeta Tandon, one of Bollywood’s top stuntwomen, who taught me everything. The entire team — from ADs to action directors — was so encouraging. The experience of doing my stunt work—kicks, flips, harnesses—was unforgettable” 

Veteran actors Venkatesh Sir and Abhishek often stepped in to guide her. ”They would kindly show me how to do the scenes better and I just followed them. Conversations with Sushant Singh were inspiring—I learnt so much from him. He’s a great human being” 

The camaraderie on set was equally memorable. “Everyone had each other’s backs. It was magical. We all used to hang out together. I was nervous at first, but everyone just welcomed me in. We were cracking jokes and spending time. The on-set time was always lively and warm. During the scenes, we would end up pranking each other and having a lot of fun. Everyone on set was a treat to be around — no egos, just good work” 

Aditi holds special admiration for the team behind Rana Naidu. ”Karan, Suparn, and Abhay were dream directors for my OTT debut and absolutely the best. They were extremely supportive and motivating. Now that the season is out, I am so grateful for their support and faith in me” 

Reflecting on the role, she shares, “Tasneem is so different from me. She’s a strong personality — unhinged. And honestly — this experience, these people, this role — it wasn’t just work. It was a blessing” 

As the love pours in from fans, Aditi is more motivated than ever. ”I’ve been getting a lot of love from the audience and I’m honestly grateful and happy for this. Waiting to work harder, deliver more such roles, and explore opportunities”

The release date for the upcoming crime thriller film So Long Valley, starring Tridha Choudhury, Akanksha Puri, Vikram Kochar, and Maan Singh, has been announced. The makers have officially confirmed that the film will release in cinemas on July 25, 2025.

Written and directed by Maan Singh, So Long Valley promises to be an intense thriller this monsoon season. Its teaser has already created quite a buzz, offering glimpses of a mysterious and gripping storyline that is set to captivate audiences.

Tridha Choudhury, who gained immense popularity for her role as Babita in Bobby Deol’s web series Aashram, is set to portray Inspector Suman Negi in this film. As the Shimla and Manali police start their investigation, a taxi driver comes under suspicion. However, as the investigation progresses, they uncover something that even shocks the police.”

Produced under the banner of Saurya Studios, So Long Valley will be released nationwide by August Entertainment, with Cinépolis Cinemas India as the multiplex partner. The film is produced by Saurya Studios and Maan Singh, co-produced by Karan Singh Chauhan, with Mohsin Khan as creative producer. The music and lyrics are by L.K. Lakshmikant. The film has been shot in Manali (Himachal Pradesh) and Pratapgarh (Uttar Pradesh).

Actor Touqeer Khan is back on screen after a break, and will be seen in a Bollywood film soon. The actor, who is actress Sumbul Touqeer’s father and has been seen in shows such as Crime Patrol, will he part of the film Mumbai Score, directed by Alok Shukla and produced by Shuktha production house. “This is my Bollywood debut. Before this, I had done Crime Patrol and a few serials, but this is my first proper film. When I came to Mumbai, I started working in acting through Crime Patrol just to survive because we didn’t have much money. Later, when Saniya and Sumbul began getting steady work, I quit acting to manage their schedules. Handling both of them, especially when their shoots were at different places or at the same time, took up all my time. Now that they’re both independent and told me, “Papa, now it’s your time to start again,” I decided to give acting another shot,” he says. 

 He adds, “The film is currently being shot in Nalasopara, where an entire slum area has been recreated for the shoot. I play the role of a local MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly) who goes to people asking for votes. The film also touches upon the serious issue of drug addiction among youth in that area.” Meanwhile, he says that he feels proud when he sees Sumbul’s journey. “I feel extremely proud and emotional seeing Sumbul’s growth. She is not only a brilliant actor but also so loved by her fans. Watching her journey unfold so beautifully fills me with happiness. Not every parent gets to witness such success and recognition for their child, so I truly feel blessed,” he says. 

 However, ask him if he wants to share the screen with her, and he says, “Honestly, no. I would never want to play Sumbul’s father on screen. She’s such a powerful actress that I would feel completely overshadowed next to her. I genuinely believe she’s so talented that I wouldn’t be able to match her energy or presence on screen.” As for more work, he says, “I definitely want to take up more acting assignments. I feel my look suits negative characters, so I’m open to playing villains. I also enjoy comic roles, so ideally, I’d like to work in either the negative or comedy genre — both excite me equally.” In fact, he will be resuming choreography too. “I actually came to Mumbai as a choreographer and even won a dance reality show back in the day. 

Many of my students have performed on platforms like DID and India’s Dancing Superstar. So I feel it’s time to restart choreography along with acting. Now that my kids are managing themselves, I can finally focus on my own passions again and give them the time they deserve,” he says.

While actress Shivangi Verma has finally opened up on allegations put on her by veteran Govind Namdev. Directed by acclaimed Punjabi filmmaker Rakesh Mehta, the actor will be seen playing a distinct role in ‘Mehar’. New Delhi, February 11, 2025: The 8th New Delhi Film Festival (NDFF), organized by the JIFF Trust, is set to take place on February 22, 2025, at the India International Centre (IIC), New Delhi.

On Tuesday, the festival organizers announced the selected films for NDFF 2025. This year, 145 films from 20 countries have been nominated in the competition category. The top award-winning films will be announced at the India International Centre on February 22, 2025. On the same day, before the awards ceremony, a special screening of the Top 5 winning films will be organized.

A total of 145 films have been selected across various categories, showcasing a diverse range of storytelling and cinematic excellence. The Feature Fiction category includes 37 films, while 16 films have been nominated under Documentary Feature and 1 film in Animation Feature. The Short Fiction category features 51 films, alongside 13 Short Documentaries and 10 Short Animation films. Additionally, 3 films have been selected in the Mobile Short Film category, with 14 entries in the Screenplay segment and 10 Student Films, highlighting emerging talent in the industry.

Out of these 145 films, 72 are from India, while 73 are international selections, chosen from a total of 708 film submissions from 54 countries.

According to Dr. Niraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital, Saif was brought to the hospital at 3:30 a.m. following the attack. “His injuries are significant, with one wound near the spine. A team of specialists, including neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Dr. Leena Jain, and anesthesiologist Dr. Nisha Gandhi, is attending to him,” Dr. Uttamani said.

The intruder allegedly broke into the actor's residence in the middle of the night, attacking the house staff before confronting Saif. Despite being unarmed, the actor fought back in an attempt to protect his family, which includes his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their two children, Taimur and Jeh.

A source close to the family described the terrifying ordeal, saying, “Saif showed immense courage, fighting off the attacker to safeguard his family. Unfortunately, he sustained severe injuries in the process.”

Kareena, who had reportedly returned home from a party around 1:30 a.m., was present in the house along with her children when the incident unfolded. She and the rest of the family remained unharmed, though the attack left them shaken.

Both Saif and Kareena’s teams have issued statements addressing the incident and requesting privacy during this challenging time. “There was an attempted burglary at Saif Ali Khan’s residence last night,” Saif’s team confirmed. “He is currently undergoing surgery, and we request fans and the media to remain patient and avoid unnecessary speculation. The matter is under police investigation.”

Similarly, Kareena’s team reassured the public about the family’s safety. “Saif sustained injuries while defending his family. We urge everyone to allow the police to carry out their investigation and not jump to conclusions. Thank you for your concern.”

The Mumbai Police have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area. Three suspects have reportedly been detained for questioning, although further details remain undisclosed.

The famous film producer Prernaa Arora secured second favourable order from the Bombay High Court for release of Rs. 50 lakhs deposited by her father in the year 2019. Also amicably as per Order passed by the Hon’ble Bombay High Court on 30th April 2024, the Hon’ble Court directed for release of this amount to her father. Adding to the excitement, the Rotary Club, CrossAsyst Infotech Pvt Ltd, and event partner Ms. Rajool Sanjay Patil collaborated to create a magnificent 33-foot-tall cardboard Christmas tree on December 15th. This remarkable feat shattered the previous world record of 20 feet and earned entries in the World Wide Record, India Book of Records, and Asia Book of Records. This tree stands as a testament to the creativity and dedication of the organizers and participants.

President Rtn. Jennifer Isaac of the Rotary Club of Mumbai Bhandup emphasized the core purpose of the Fun Fiesta: supporting underprivileged communities.
